TR-069 & Zero-Touch Provisioning: Configure CPE Without a Technician
Sending a technician to configure every new router is slow and expensive. TR-069 (also called CWMP) lets an ISP configure customer-premises equipment (CPE) remotely and automatically — so a subscriber can plug in a router and have it provisioned in minutes, with no on-site visit.
What Is TR-069?
TR-069 is the Broadband Forum's CPE WAN Management Protocol. The router (CPE) talks to an Auto Configuration Server (ACS) such as GenieACS. The ACS can read and set parameters, push firmware, run diagnostics, and apply configuration profiles — all remotely and securely.
What Zero-Touch Provisioning Automates

Supported Hardware
Veloxiom manages TR-069 devices through GenieACS, covering MikroTik, FRITZ!Box, and a range of OLT/ONU equipment for GPON/EPON deployments. Devices can be onboarded by serial pre-registration or provisioning token, then mapped to the right customer automatically.
Adopt in Two Ways
Serial pre-registration maps a known device serial to a customer before it ever connects. Provisioning tokens let a field installer adopt a device on the spot. Either way, the device appears in the customer's card and is ready for zero-touch config.
Why It Matters
Zero-touch provisioning cuts truck rolls, shortens activation from days to minutes, and reduces configuration errors. For a growing ISP, it's the difference between scaling headcount linearly with subscribers and scaling with software.
